Mercy
A woman in tears can melt your heart
How could you look away?
Or perhaps you're cynical, doubting pain
A part in someone's play
It's hard to take when someone's need
Is greater than your own
You've things to do, Life doesn't stop
The grass once more has grown
But life can change more than you know
And every day it will
If closing down might suit you best
You're welcome, take that pill
So many things are daily missed
By those who choose that path
So did you make the finest choice?
Or are you courting wrath?
Would a swan ignore her young?
Could a song remain unsung?
We must respond to need each day
And gently show there is a way
So in this world of pressure and haste
Let's take a moment amidst the waste
And make a change, with merciful mind
There's power in mercy, strength in kind

This is such a wonderful poem. I really enjoyed reading it today and loved the verses "would a swan ignore her young"? It gives the reader something to think about, we have to be kind and considerate of each other's feeling instead of just turning our heads ignoring problems.
A most powerful message today. When someone cries it's easy to look away and not experience the pain. “The quality of mercy is not strained…” You have done the reader a service that they will carry with them the next time they hear her cry.
