The Dusty Book

Quietly placed upon a shelf
Where none have gone for many a year
A book sits quietly, full of wealth
Yet wasted to a world of fear

For answers can be found for those
Who really want to know
In places where we once have been
But then forgot to go

It’s easy to miss a glint of truth
When faced with so much noise
Slow down, be still, and listen hard
For busyness destroys

Never a word was written down
For nobody to read
Keep searching, never give up the quest
For it’s not based on greed

There never will be a day which passes
When no thing will change
Stay wide awake and watch it all
Though often things are strange

Sometimes there’s nothing you can do
But learn a little more
Each day a chance to glean a gem
Then life is never a chore

It’s time for reading, studying perhaps
You’ll be surprised to find
That dusty book so long forgotten
Has all the world outshined
