As I await your entry into my lifespace
I am minded of consequences of choice
and wonder if I care enough to prolong the agony
of unrequited love.

Glancing through a glass darkly I behold the face of
my intended and find the reflection is my own.
Me whom I had not taken the time to love
as I sacrificed what could have been for
what ought to be and ended up with an
embittered shell.

A shell which has now been broken and reformed
by new and endless possibilities which lay beneath the surface all of the time.
So now I can truly sing, soar, and play
with the eagles who are indeed unafraid to fly
alone.

And I embrace my new found love of flying.
Higher.
Higher.
Higher into the warm sun
of self acceptance.
Bound no more by mindless definitions.

Each moment is a new experience when you can't recapture your last breath.
