One Sunday I passed thru the butcher shop
I watched him while he chop
the sound echoes "Tak,Tak,Tak"
I feel as if his knife is dancing on my neck
I walked as if I run,
I wonder how people eat, the red meat
as if it is a bun
I called my daddy , "Come,Dad,Come"
He wondered with my shout as like a Scout
Where from, God send this girl!!
"Dad! How can they kill
with such a strong will
the hen, the fish and the goat
while they scream
with the beat on their throat
Don't they have any compassion?
Don't they feel sorry?"
Dad replied.
"Don't you agree plants have life?
Don't you cut vegetables with knife?
Those creatures can atleast scream
these vegetables which are green
also will cry in vain
unfortunately we couldn't hear the pain.
Isn't this violence?
Then How come the question of Benevolence?"
For a moment, I was silent.
I began to think,
What is the answer for my lament?
What to do not to be violent?
If God grants a boon,
that our hunger be satisfied
with air and water
so that people care for the Eco-charter
but what about the farmer?
Then I stop thinking for I realise
in the matter of violence
we shouldn't see everything with
magnifying lens
It is not good to question
for God never do the things
without any reason.

Man was not made to be a non vegetarian. No one has the right to take the life of another being.
True, we do "kill" plants, but frankly, their nervous system isn't as advanced as animals, they don't feel such pain.
If someone talks about the balance of nature, we should realise that man's apetite for animal meat and industrialisation, pollution etc are the main causes that are disturbing the BoN.
Each year many billion mammals and birds are killed for food. It has been said that killing were carried out more scientifically without much pain. The truth is not so pleasant - commercial slaughterhouse are like visions of hell. Screaming animals are stunned by hammer blows, electric shock, or concussion guns. Often still alive, their throats are sliced and their flesh is cut off
Ethical considerations have always attracted many of the world's greatest personalities including Charles Darwin, Benjamin Franklin, Isaac Newton, George Bernard Shaw,Mahatma Gandi, William Blake, St Francis of Assisi, Alexander Pope, Leonardo da Vinci,Pythagoras, Michael Jackson, Peter Burwash and William Wordworth to adopt a vegetarian diet. These individuals are very famous amongst the most brilliant philosophers and original thinkers in world history, came from very diverse cultural, racial and religious background.
Pythagoras, famous mathematician, said,"Oh, my fellow men, do not defile your bodies with sinful foods..." He ate bread and honey in the morning and raw vegetable at night. He would also pay fishermen to throw their catch back in the sea,
The great painter, inventor, sculptor, and poet Leonardo da Vinci wrote,"He who does not value life does not deserve it." He considered the bodies of meat-eaters to be "burial places," graveyards for the animals they eat.
the Bible emphatically states, "Thou shall not kill," and Lord Jesus Christ, who always displayed deep compassion for all living beings, stated, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Lord Buddha also taught the principle of ahimsha, nonviolence, specifically to protect innocent creatures from being slaughtered.
Aren't Vegetarians guilty of killing vegetables?. In response, it may be pointed out that vegetarian food such as fruits, nuts, milk, and grains do not require any killing. But even in those cases where a plant's life is taken, the pain involved is much less than when an animal is slaughtered, because plant's nervous system is less developed. Clearly there is a vast difference between pulling a carrot out of the ground and killing a lamb.

"Struggle for existence" is for every living being. Death is the truth, the ultimate... that may come in any form, maybe as a murderer, a butcher, an accident, a sickenes...But ultimately it is death...
