Army life is like no other.
Drill Sergeants are your mother--
your father, sister, and brother.
It's like no other.

Long days and hard nights.
Sometimes it just really bites.
Army life so extremely unique--
it's not meant for the meek.

Trained to kill without mercy,
with no mercy on the trainee.
What makes the green grass grow?
Blood makes the green grass grow.

Army life means getting up
before the day to push-up.
Are you down right motivated?
Yes, Drill Sergeant, too damn dedicated!

We do PT just for kicks--
actually, it just plain sucks.
Run atleast three miles a day.
Some people would say, no way!

Signed my name on a dotted line,
the Army wants all of my time.
Army life is twenty-four, seven.
Always a soldier without exception!

*Written: March 19, 1997 at Fort Bragg, NC during MOS training soon after basic and airborne school (hence the allusions to cadences).
