Missing my mom.

Caught

A small tree branch

Caught horizontally between rocks.

Water surges past,

The branch cannot move on.

A deep emotion lodged

Caught deeply between the heart and throat

Tears surge up,

The memories do not let go.

Fantastic comparison between the caught twig and the lump in the throat when things go wrong, well done...

Be always safe,

Wonderful writing - feelings leap from the page. A perfect description of deep emotion reluctant to loosen its grip.

Powerfully imaged in moving lines, Eileen, well done. The good as well as the bad stay with us - we usually remember the bad.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Eileen,
The memories never let go. They stay within our hearts and minds, keeping a piece of our loved ones with us always. The memories can be difficult to face, sometimes, but I think, in the long run, we're happy to have them.
Thanks for sharing this emotive poem,
Jill

Yes ... an apt analogy indeed. And the longer that that branch stays stuck, the more that it attracts the junk and debris that clings to it.

Ah...this one caught in my throat too! I miss my mom too...and sometimes it is hard to move on without her hand and words to guide...but when I listen, hard enough, her words are still there in my mind and heart...telling me what to do.
