Softly flutter wings of wisdom
Soaring over past regression…
Time to open inner eyes
That once were blind in their oppression.
Sweeping through the darkest caverns
Sifting through the charred remains…
Finally facing memories blade
That bled the soul and left these stains.
Digging deeper through the hollow,
Aching years spent all alone…
Looking straight into the mirror
Now reflecting scars I own.
Tired of running from my fears
That tangled feet and bound my hands…
Recognizing these my demons,
Raking through these shifting sands.
Opening the door to freedom
Crawling from this cage within…
No more bruise upon my knees
For now I stand and walk again.
Sweetly sings the bird unfettered
Sailing now through present sky…
While I embrace the light unfolding,
Tasting life before I die.

scars I own....how true... mistakes are the only thing we can truly call our own. These mistakes often leave horrid scars behind. this is a wonderful write.
