Winter ice is shifting
floating jagged through my veins…
Injected with a memory
that feeds the soul with pain.

Intentions left to dangle
with no solid ground to hold…
Fade swiftly like the sunshine
in the brittle winter cold.

Inside of every whisper
of these thoughts begin to bleed…
Infection from the lack of ever
finding what I need.

While every moment seems to find
the chill of shadow’s paint…
The ribbons of depression
hold the heart in tight restraint.

Until the breath of heaven
traces paths along my skin…
To melt the fear that freezes
‘till my heart can beat again.

Tomorrow never comes when
dreams not allowed to grow…
When yesterday is frozen
never thawed to be let go.
