The timid light reaches out…
Timorously tasting the darkened peaks
-finding them to his liking-

He extends his warm tentacles,
tenderly embracing his prey
-swallowing the shallow vistas below.

His voracious appetite
not yet quenched;
He greedily gobbles more…

Bursting out of his darkened cupboard
-more hungry now than shy-
He reaches out-

Engulfing the world with light.

Interesting take. We usually think of us or the earth as the ones who partake of the sun. I like how you've switched that around. Nice word-play in the title as well. I like the subtlety of your alliteration.
Very descriptive.

I really enjoyed the stealth mode and encroaching approach of this poem, that gently gains ground with the reader through the imaginative use of vivid imagery and word play. The flow of the poem is engaging and the end result meets the title in originality. I was wondering how this would read without the last two words...

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
