The Honey Lies,
Lies
-deep in the center of the hive,
amidst the built-up octagonal walls
the honey,
Honey Lies,
Lies
-at the core of the hive
Cut off the wax capping
and peer inside
at the raw honey- -
Honey Lies,
Lies
-inside
The spinning frame
sends out golden rain
of honey- -
Honey Lies,
Lies
-on the sides of the walls
The translucent gleam
from the golden stream
of honey,
Honey Lies,
Lies
-like a waiting trap
The sweetest taste,
like golden rain
of honey-
Honey Lies,
Lies
-on the tip of your tongue
The sugary crystals- -
the dark, sticky mess
of honey,
Honey Lies,
Lies
-at the bottom of the barrel
And somewhere amidst
that dangerous hive
of honey,
Honey Lies,
Lies
-the golden truth...
concealed
Thanks for sharing this, Cryssa.
Interesting. We usually characterize honey as a good thing. This is a new look at sweetness and the danger it encompasses.
Well done.

Pattern Poetry form, ~ also known as Emblem Poem ~ was widely used in the sixteen and seventeen centuries. Many writers CENTERLINE their compositions under the influence of Pattern Poetry, but without following the form's rules.
This is a poetic banquet... "Honey" enriches Nature and its mellifluous wonders.
