Of Flags and Wings
 

 White flags
White wings
~waving~
~soaring~
in the air 

An arm stretched out--
An olive branch extended…
a call for truce,
a hope for love,
a wish for peace expressed 

White flags of amity
A dove of peace
bring calm, goodwill and harmony
offering serenity, tranquility, and love
Oh, peaceful flutterings, rest gently on my soul…

 

Author's note:  This poem  can also be read as two separate poems by reading every other line, with the concluding line in each stanza being read in both poems.
