In a fairy tale dream
I touched my prince
As he entered my heart
As I awakened, I found him
Masked fully for the occasion
Shinning armor and all
Ardently the heart gates
Flung fully open
The guards, relaxed
By wanting periods of no visitors
And steam from a hot furnace
Fogs the view
All aided in seeing only
What the heart needed at the time
He entered
Doting his glowing, sharp edged armor
That soon pierced the walls
Of my naive heart
Years later
After several piercing encounters
A worn heart races still
In fairy tale dreams
Where a daughter
Adorns the gown of my favor
Eyes, shinning & bright
With my longed for excitement, anticipation - love
I smile, as a lone tear
Tickles me awake
As it runs through a laugh fold
On an aged-old face
A fold developed
From years of joyous smiles and laughs
Given to me by this woman-child,
Treasure of my life
And at long last
My fairy tale is no longer a dream.
