Contemplating

I am in need of thee, Oh Lord

As I contemplate the day

My flesh shall peel

From my soul

This earthly haven that you leant me

Will wither and be no more

This hand that guides a pen

Across a sheet of my life

Will lay limp

This heart that beats to the tempo

Of an oscillating life force

Will go silent

These eyes that now view

Joyful rivers and peaceful valleys

Will see the setting of a somber sun

And I contemplate

Oh Lord of my life

New shelter for my soul...

As long as I am in your folds

I await, humming a joyful tune.
