Have you heard
Of the place called Absurd?
It’s quite a place to behold.
Where the day is night
And nights are bright
With the glimmer of silver and gold.
The ground is up.
Water comes from a cup
And the sky is the brightest of green.
But the thing most known
Is the Zoo that was flown
in from the Land of Serene.
There’s a cat with a bat.
And a pig in a wig
who dances a jig
on the top of the house with no roof.
There’s a cow with a plow
And a duck with bad luck
who chases his tail that’s aloof.
There’s a rat in a hat.
And a goat in a coat
who swims in the moat
of the castle that floats in the sky.
There are crocs in blue frocks
who set their time clocks
Then throw them to see the times fly.
There’s a snake with a rake.
And a snail in a pail,
And rabbits with bad habits
Of leaving turtles in hurdles in races.
There’s a fish on a dish.
A frog in the bog.
And lambs eating wild yams in high places.
There are sparrows with arrows
And fleas that eat trees
in a forest that cannot be burned.
For there are towers of flowers
And paths of green grass
If for this land you have yearned.
Where is this land? Go there if you can!
For this land is not far away.
Just close your eyes and to your surprise
Your dreams will not lead you astray.
For the Land of Absurd
Have you not heard?
Is only a slumber away!
