You Think It Doesn’t Hurt Me!

This is not meant to bash men, only the abusive ones. For we found many loving and special ones here on this site.

I saw a story on the news of a battered and abused woman, her face was brused, but her eyes were completely blank, spirit gone and the look on her face haunts me. This is for her and all those women who have never experienced it, those that lived it and for those brave ones who had the courage to get out of it.

You Think It Doesn’t Hurt Me!

You think I’m going to be here, every time you call my name.
You think you can treat me heartlessly and I should carry the blame.
You think the brutal words you utter, should bounce off easily.
You don’t think it should harm me, when you do these things to me.

Oh it does hurt my darling skeptic one, my feelings and my soul.
And all those things you do and say takes a mighty toll.
It hurts my tender spirit and depletes the gentle part of me.
I want to run away and hide and set my spirit free.

You promised consistently, that everything would change.
You would be much kinder and everything would rearrange.
So I believed you, for that’s what my heart wanted to do.
Until the very next time, which I barely made it through.

So my darling skeptic one, I want to make this clear.
I will no longer take the abuse, for I will not be here.
You can rant and rave alone, where you like to dwell.
And I will find my happiness, absent from your hell.

Even here, in AD, a few spouses are making trouble for their mates writings, forbidding and even contacting authors demanding that we don't write, comment or review her/his work (despite the bashed one saying that he or she didn't meant it but that in the name of peace...)
I should be happy to have a ten minutes talk, Marine stile, with one of those jerks that beat "their" women up to "my property"
If a man has so little selfconfidence, he shouldn't have a wife to beat and demonstrate to himself how much power he really has.

Rene's ex was a cop and took out his stresses on her, then we re-found each other, many years after our high school romance, and now she doesn't have to put up with the above situation, she only has to put up with me...(poor woman)...good write, bout time someone at least says something...Ed

Powerfully penned call for change, Bonnie: too many live like this, faces bruised, spirits crushed...well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
