An Old Love, Your First!
What do you do when your first love calls you with words that shock your core?
Telling you he’s never loved another and searched for you once more.
He informs you how the memories of you are destroying his entire being.
And he’s regretted throughout his life, letting you go without truly seeing.
Do you let him continue for he’s saying everything you once needed to hear.
Or do you stop him dead in his tracks by making your feelings clear?
At one time you might have even wished this day would finally come.
Where he too felt the same pain you felt till you eventually went numb.
Oh, he had your heart in his hands and he played you like a fiddle.
Is he now saying all these things, thinking you were still so brittle?
Doesn’t he realize you’ve moved on to a love that was meant for you?
Does he think you’d give all that up for a love that you once knew?
It’s time for you to stop his humiliation by not letting him say anything more.
For when he left you in such pain, he truly nailed shut that revolving door.
I must stop you sir, for you have called a wrong number.
That woman who loved you back then was truly encumbered.
She went through a cleansing to remove you from her heart & mind.
She is a totally different person now and one who’s doing just fine.
She has found a beautiful new love, a love that’s been true blue.
Her memories of the past are gone, as is her relationship with you.
So I’d advise you to stop looking for her and not call here anymore.
For there’s nothing left in her for you or what it was like before.

This reminds me of my relationship with Rene, she & I knew each other well in High School, but just to get out of our hometown, she married a guy and moved away even though, according to her, she loved me still...but he didn't work out, physical abuse and such, and now she is back with me, to a degree, and we enjoy each others company again...GOOD WRITE...Ed

For there’s nothing left in her for you, or what it was like before.
And it very sadly works both ways. I got a similar call, from my first wife, who couldn't wait to get rid of me, so many years ago.
And it's often extremely sad for both male and female, when one has moved on with their life, and the other hasn't.
