Many times we hide our own emotions because others need lifting...there is no shame in sharing tears sometimes they heal others too.

Hidden Pillow

Tears spilled unseen on my pillow for no one else to see.

Only showing a smiling face wanting them to think it’s me.

When the sadness overwhelms me, alone is where I’ll be.

So no one will know that sadness is also a part of me.

I only want to share my glory and joyfulness to everyone.

To lift them up when they are down until their day is done.

So there’s no room for tears in me and only my pillow knows.

That I have aches and pain dwelling deep inside & never show.

So if you catch a glimpse of me when my smiles aren’t so bright.

It’s probably because those tears fell on my pillow that night.

Its not that I’m trying to be dishonest believe me it’s truly not.

It’s if I let the tears flow freely, I’m so afraid they’ll never stop.

So when you see someone who only wants to share their bliss.

You can bet they have a hidden pillow by their tears have been kissed.

So true, Bonnie I lwysremember an Indian guru's words about shallow people who are always happy, always bubbling - when sadness has a depth, and sadness wears no mask! But we should try to be happy, make our lives joyful despite problems and heartaches. :-)

You are one of those who like many hides her pain in the silence of her room....sure know that one....but... you know you hit the target when you say that sometimes when others know of our pain we can help heal one another.... It is hard to read your work and not feel the beauty of YOU... hugs, lindalaw

Beautifully stated, Bonnie, as always. Here's a little something I wrote a while back, which seems to fit:

Fool
by Ted L Glines

Put me in my place
lost without a trace
you think you know my face
but you don't know me
not the me that's really me
you only know what you can see
you think my act is really kewl
with my prat-fall and my drool
as I play the silly fool

A clown may laugh and prance
and you get caught up in her dance
never knowing the romance
of her sordid guilty years
or her nightmares and fears
a crying heart no one hears
and the only hope she knows
is her makeup and her shows
and the glee which she bestows
for all the comedie and cheers
masque the pathos of her years
as laughter drowns in her own tears
her happy pink is lonely blue
her laughing smile is makeup too
her every act is done on cue
and the only fool is you

Keep smiling Sweetie, and keep that pillow handy, too :-)

Ted

This one hits home for as a father and grandfather no matter how sad I become it is only between the lines of my poetry that I can put away the smile and face the truth.

Hidden pillows, how many of us can say, "I own one!" But sometimes that secret pillow is all we have to restore our sanity balance.
Great poem!
