I sat gazing through the window of time,
sounds of the clock tick tock its rhyme.
The floor creaked to patterns worn,
trailed from paths when you were 1st born.
Your eyes sparkled and danced with delight
when you awoke, to the dawn’s early light.
Cooing and jabber would soon fill the air,
you would play aimlessly without worry or care.
As time passed, you stumbled and fell,
tears you would cry, running to be held.
Gently, I would wipe your flowing tears
and whispered confidence into your ear.
With pride and love, I watched you grow
praying that time would begin to slow.
But time sped by like a whirling wind,
leaving me to memories of where it all began.
Trying to remember all that once happened before,
thoughts if only, I could be young once more.
Now I sit old and gray in my rocking chair,
gazing out the window, lost to stare.
