The Birth

Love flourished,
embe dding a seed of life
that grew silently
within the solitude of my womb.

Love flourished,
as the embryo grew
and I felt fluttered movements,
a gentle reminder of a new life to bloom.

Love flourished,
as my anxiety intensify
awaiting the day of birth, knowing
my life would forever change upon this earth.

Love flourished,
even through pain
overwhelmed my thoughts
and forced my prided to be swallowed.

Love flourished,
the very moment you emerged
into this world covered with my blood
for all to hear your cries of life.

Love flourished,
this day, November 12, 2002
when I held you in my arms and
gazed upon you, my child, my son, Alex.

Love flourish,
by the miracles of this day,
for the birth of becomming a mother to a son,
a new life for us all had just begun.

Love flourish,
as the angels sang their song
rejoicing for the life of this child
who was a symbol of love, pure and strong.


(This poem was written for my best friends sister who gave birth on November 12, 2002 to a health baby boy they named Alex.)
