The picture is me at 15. Not to worry, a month later at the same beach I met Darleen. That's another poem for another day. lol

Poem Artwork

I was standing by the ocean

When she walked up to me,

She said hi my name is Diana,

And I thought to myself-

Who is this beautiful girl talking to me?

I told her my name

And she said oh my god,

That’s the name of my boyfriend

Back in Pennsylvania where I’m from,

And we looked at each other and laughed.

She said she was 18 and from Pittsburg

And a model just chasing her dreams,

With her flowing strawberry blond hair

And those blue eyes and that smile,

I had no reason to doubt what she said.

I told her I was from Virginia,

But I didn’t tell her my age,

I was afraid I would scare her away,

I said that I still had to finish college,

So, I figured no lie and no foul.

We waded in the ocean

And we rode the wild waves,

We walked on the beach

And collected seashells,

And we talked and we laughed.

Our bodies were both kissed by the sun

And the day turned into a week,

We were inseparable and went everywhere,

She was outgoing and I was very shy,

I guess opposites really do attract.

At night we would sit on the pier

And talk about life, love and dreams,

There was something special about the moon and stars

And I swear the stars were dancing in her eyes,

As I dealt with these feeling that I couldn’t explain.

Well, the time came to say a bittersweet goodbye

And she left for Pennsylvania, and I headed to Virginia,

I’d never see her again, but in memories and dreams,

And I always wondered what would have happened,

If my mom hadn’t told her mom that I was only fifteen.

A bit of nostalgia beautifully captured in this fine poem, experience that many of us probably have had and will never forget, bitter-sweet for all that.

I love this heart touching story of young romance.
Some people are meant enter our lives for
a short while, and leave a truly memorable
Imprint that is indelible and everlasting…
and we are left with the sweetest of memories and
faces that never grow old…
What a lovely photo of you at fifteen…
I bet you broke a few hearts…
