This is a free verse poem about public schools today.
You can see the fear on every face.
Fear in every place.
The gun is hidden, as he strides down the hall.
He thinks he is cool, when he is making the business deal.
Earrings dangle on each ear, eyebrow, and tongue.
It's God's body, if he only knew.
His Dad doesn't care, his Mom passed away last year.
He wears girls garments over his clothes to get attention.
He has been pushed and shoved, torn down from the inside out.
He picks a fight and gets in School Suspension.
Deputies line the hall, waiting on the call.
Children are hurt everyday.
Schools hide the bitter truth, to make themselves look better.
Parents turn the other way.
May their eyes be opened soon, in hopes of saving our youth.
When God was taken out of school and discipline out of the homes, that's where everything went wrong - teachers now can't educate, because they're too busy being babysitters and cops - parents nowadays do not get involved - sad, isn't it? Excellent eye opening write.
This is a sad rendition to the state of some of our schools. Perhaps more than ever, parents and churches need to reach out to the kids on the streets itself.
