The realm of small talk leaves me in the cold
(It looks like it’s about to rain today)
It sends communication pigeonholed
Confined to thoughts we deem as safe to say.
I reach across a void of emptiness
To send a note harmonious with yours
But still my song’s discordant and distressed
An echo of the void at heaven’s shores.
Silently your lips move as though you speak
I hear a sound like leaves in rushing wind
The icy breath of gossip dark and deep
Will muffle reason’s thin voice at the end.
The void of silence echoes like thunder
In testament to the death of wonder.
Be always safe,
Karen
