This poem was published about fifteen
years ago. I wrote it after finding
a snake right behind the house. It
felt like a sign, and a terrifying
one, at that. Someone I loved was
about to undergo an amputation. . .
too long a story to tell here, but
...suffice it to say, the poem has
special significance for me.
Thanks for being here. Phyllis

I don't understand dreams. I'm not really sure that dreams mean what people say they mean. All I think dreams are is creativity in the sleeping state, creativity that we won't allow to come out when we ARE awake. I'm not crazy about snakes. I almost peed on one, a very long one, over a year ago on a photography trip out in the middle of nowhere and no bathroom. But I really do think he was more afraid of me than I was of him.
This is quite symbolic Pea. Also another lesson, be wise and strike only when provoked to do so for good cause. Striking at anything for the wrong reasons always gets us "bit back."
