Poem Artwork

        Oh, Babies

My babies are on the wall.
There they are, plain to see.
I am not sure who you are,
Did you ever belong to me?

Plainly, your spouses claim rights
To part.  You own the rest?
That is, until your babies thumb
Off to their own.  Like a test.

Have to pass along to pass.
But in our hearts we have to cling
To the days when a wee lad or lass
Looked to us for – yes, as – Everything.

We were gods, benevolent, and All.
Do this, it was done.  Do that. . .
Didn't always work, but you grew Tall.
Love you're you, but part of me's sad.

On the wall, your hair is moon-dyed
Mink.   Knee you always land on, blue.
Eyes unclouded as a blue ribbon sky.
Hands dimpled, and knees.  So you.

No, you are gods, benevolent, and All
to your babies, however big they are.
Lines on your faces nothing at all
To your deeds. You are Stars,

You are.  On the wall, and off
And running, each of you is my child
And galaxies more.  Lifted aloft,
You gleam as I never dreamed, Child.

Your children, and yours,
Enrich a tapestry I never loomed.
Its patterns, hues, and strength, far more
Than fit on the walls of any room.

Beauty shines through your faults.
Quakes refine and repolish your glow.
Darlings,  I am in absolute awe.
Grow, my darlings, grow!!

The doll in the picture is my great granddaughter,  Taylor Marie.  Photo was taken awhile back.  She is even cuter now.  SO well-behaved.  Doesn't take after me, obviously.  Hope to
post a photo of Dylan -- who lives in Florida with mama Debi and papa Chris -- before long.
He is a doll, too!!  Signed, Un Prejudiced Uvcuss....s m i l e

Pea,

I'd be honored if I could be your grandchild. :) What a glorious, beautiful, moving tribute that strikes the chords of love with grace and love! Well done, my friend, I love this one.

This is a precious photo and I have fully enjoyed the write that goes with it. They do grow so fast don't they. You want them to, even though you know you will miss their younger days. So you have one in the stock market now eh? ;-)
