Let's call it semi-autobiographical.
(More like "semi-" self-pity?) All have our down times, don't we. Of course, not everyone is a. . .how was it my mother put it? "Sarah Bernhardt?" Over-dramatic, e.g.
Only defense the Popeye Defense: I yam what I yam...& it is what it is.
Thank all the stars above for the support 'y'all' give so generously.

Here's a good one for you:
I have fallen and I can’t get up.
Bit short of hilarious
When it is you
Got knocked for a
Loop.

To know Up left the building,
Not bothering to wave.

Truth?    Only if you take it
Without varnish.
Thing is, I can no longer dredge up
The strength to cry.
Screamed to the point
I am down to a choice between
A whisper, a whimper, or a
Croak.

Not like it was one thing tripped
And sent me hurtling to the bottom.
Only so many climbs in a person,
I'm afraid.  Why else would I lie waffling
Between a pine box and a 7-Up
Can?

Hang on was my favorite mantra.
Do not think about giving up.  Friends
Will kill you.   Now I’m sinking into muck
Fate, Stagnation, and I got together
To make.   Almost grateful.  It was this or
The cold light of day.  Shivering naked
Before scowlers in a court I created
Early on.  Just my luck to get me
For a judge.   One who specializes
In long sentences to
Solitary.

My fingers itch.   Maybe if I dig them into
The space between these moss-covered stones,
Then the one above, it will help.   Feel
Wet and clammy, but. . .yes. . .I can
                                                                     Pull!

I love the way you write -- fantastic, (((Pea))).

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Intimate, somewhere between a poetic monologue and a confession. It also feels like putting bits and pieces together, especially with all the fragmented lines in the poem. I just love the last four lines.

Help! I've fallen and I can't reach my beer. Good thing I bought that life alert bracelet. What's that? Battery's dead? Crap, now my beer will get warm for sure. I can hear the coroner now, yep, he's dead all right, colder than that budweiser sittin' on the sink. Such a waste of beer. Patrick

Phyllis, Love your 'play on words.'
But then I Love all that you have
written. You are a 'unique woman'
very much down to earth!!
Always,
Deborah

My mantras dear Phylis have always been, "cheer up it will get worse", and the other. "It is good now, and it is as good as it gets". An old acquaintance whom I always admired for his pragmatism once told me. "Jon Michael, if you are ever looking for sympathy my friend remember. It is in the dictionary between skepticism and syphilis". All pseudo-sagely remarks aside. I have no doubts, you can and will, "PULL". I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

That's the way to look at it, Phyllis, with your lovely tongue
planted firmly in your cheek. Laugh, I thought I'd die. -gene.

This poem is quite the pick-me-up. What is it about knowing others are down that reassures? But you're right...we all go through it. Great poem. Hugs,
Sheila

I love the positive spin you give to such a painful condition. There is beauty in the things you see even through the challenges life throws at us.

What a rich and profound imagination you have!
This was an absolute pleasure to read, you are so good with getting those private feelings across to the reader.
Be well,

You have a good hand with this one. I had that feeling yesterday of being in a pine box and being thrown at.
Very good write with plenty to say.
