The Same Moon I See

When my son was in Korea (Army) he called one night, very homesick. That memory inspired me to write this poem.

THE SAME MOON I SEE

I'm lonely  tonight,

no stars do I see;

The moon over the horizon,

is hiding from me.

The birds cease their singing,

as the night air draws near.

The flash of the lightning not one time, but three,

the thunder that follows the waves on the sea..

My child do not fear the storm shall soon pass.

The stars in the sky,

and the moon at last.

Cast your eyes upward,

and there you will see,

the same moon you're seeing is looking at me.

Hello Kathryn,

A wonderful comforting poem, with the thought of the same God Who is with you both.

I always was thrilled to know that my pen friend in England saw the same moon each night as I did too. One universe, one univeral sky, love to look at the moon before I go into the house when coming home at night. So refreshing and it changes shape and colors often.

This tribute should be shared with every member of our Armed Forces, serving away from their stateside families and friends. So often, when parted, it is comforting to know that the same moon and stars we see are also seen by our long distance loved ones.

Thank you for sharing this poem, Kathryn.

It must have been comforting to both of you, and as Gianetta observed, it also reminds you that the Creator of the moon and stars is looking on you both.

Quite beautiful and an expression of loneliness, but than again, we're all the same.

Very beautiful and comforting composition - a testament to the broader scale - a togetherness found under a celestial being...wonderful!
