Four AM!

Getting up in the morning
Is such a groan.
Crunches, aerobics;
Keeping up with a scanty
Clad woman
Dragging you
Kicking and screaming through
Oceans of sweat.

The temptation to join the
Couch potato generation
Chases me between bench presses.
Oh, what I would give to be part of that
Obese population
Where future health care isn’t an issue.

French fries dripping with hot fat,
Sodas by the gallon,
Along with candy, cake, pie, &
Smooth, creamy, milk chocolate.
Sitcoms, soap operas, &
reality shows,
Lead the way to
Survival of the flabbiest.

In Shanghai and Beijing
Slender octogenarians
Drift like butterflies
To the sound of soothing
Early morning music
Imitating the supple limbs
of trees caressed by a
Gentle breeze.

Meanwhile, I dream
Of surrendering to éclairs,
Cream puffs and
A hot chocolate latte.

You got me with this one. Without much effort but an active lifestyle, I maintained a 30 inch waist for thirty years. Now, my exercise consists of trying to shift my weight in this wheel chair, watching TV, endless hours on four computers.

How, then, am I healthy with few muscle aches and pains, and no arthritis?

No wear and terror. The scantily clad lady who exercises me helps a lot!

4 am! On a good night that's just about the time i fall asleep.
I tried the exercise routine once and it tore something in my
knee and I damn near didn't get over it. March on, my friend.

I do know what you mean about exercise. My 3rd daughter Kathy gets up early exercises each day, eats sweets if she wants and does not weigh more than a feather. She is proud of her weight but loves to eat sweets. She exercises the fat away. She is 42 and slender. I do envy her the energy she has.
