Every day there's another story about a child being bullied and it's heartbreaking.....I, too, was bullied as a child and I know the pain very well...

Poem Artwork

If only you could read my mind
How simple it would be…
To know how sad I feel inside
For the way you’re treating me…

You’d see the pain and all the scars
Your bullying leaves behind.
And you’d catch a glimpse of the awful hurt
That lives within my mind.

I know that I’m not perfect…
No need to point that out!
So why do you judge when you don’t even know
What I am all about!

I wish that you could wear my shoes
For just a little while!
You’d know that when you’re miserable
It’s impossible to smile!

It’s lonely here inside of me…
And I don’t know what to do!
I’m terrified and all alone…
And it’s all because of you!

I’m simply trying to find my way
And it’s difficult at best…
Why can't you look at me and see…
I’m just like all the rest!

Being considered "an outsider" because my family is from another country, I experienced a lot of bullying and abuse in early grades at school. I've never been a fighter unlike my older brother who instilled fear in the other kids. It was terrible when he left the school since there was no more protection. Your words are very meaningful. Thank you, Anna. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Oh how good this is. I would like these words paneling the hallways of grade schools, junior high schools, high schools, and both sides of the door to every employer's office. Yep. Bravo, bravo! ~~ Diana

Brings me back to my childhood days in the gravel playground. With six grades all there at once, there was a lot of bullying going on. I can't recall ever bullying anyone, but I do recall standing up for some and protecting them from the worst. They would sometimes gang up and try to catch me but I was a fast runner and always got away. Mom had to sew patches where buttons had been ripped out of my shirts as I pulled and got away.

Bullying today is less physical and more psychological.

Annabel, I know bullying from both sides...I was bullied as a kid, even by family...sadly, I responded by bullying, something I'm not proud of...I'm not going to say 'it gets better' but it can if you let it.
Cheers,
Dan

I had plenty of childhood horrors, but being bullied wasn't one of the. It was tried, but, uh, it didn't take. I discovered early on that bully can't handle it if someone fights back. But you are right, it can leave a scar. A bad one.

Being Bullied is terrible as your words here so aptly describe and the scars remain for many years, often throughout one's life. Sorry for your past pain, my far northern friend, and the hurt that still remains to this day.
Your far south-western friend; Mark
