SICK AND TIRED
(January 30, 2007)
This poem/rant/rhyme is featured in my book Pieces of Me
I'm sick and tired of being
In the middle of this war
This bickering does nothing
But leave me drained and sore
I just don't understand it
Why can't you get along?
It's like a broken record
Replaying the same old song
Just end it, I can't take it
It's driving me insane
The constant disagreement
Is only causing pain
I wanna near others
But inside I am afraid
Of getting hurt and battered
And turning into bait
I wish I could escape it
But it's everywhere I turn
And trying to tune you out
Does nothing in return
Maybe I should try ignoring
All that escapes from you
So I won't have to worry
About my damaged view
Of my future and the people
I tend to push away
And jailing my existence
Locking myself to stay
In a shell where it is safe
I'm protected from the hate
And whatever comes my way
I've no need to be afraid
For I'm trapped, I'm trapped inside
And that's where I'm gonna be
These four walls will hold me tight
Til you stop abusing me
I don't quite understand the above verse. Is there a word missing? In any case, it does not diminish the anguish expressed powerfully and poignantly in your verses, Lena. I dislike conflict immensely. Thank you. Love and best wishes,
Early Works is an exhaustive compilation of the first decade of the poems and stories of Z.B.McClure. Included are family photos, rare personal photos, photos of 1st draft manuscripts of many of his early poems. Also some biography and memoir materia
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
Loved your rhyme and verses. I also do rhyme and it isn't always easy but this poem is exceptional. I felt your pain in this write.
Blessings,
~Linda
