I hope you all dont mind But I thought I would post my weekly topical poems for you all to read, this one I will be reading on air this Wednesday morning.
Let’s work together We know the Victorian fires are a shocking tragedy And the support they’ve received is simply the best But our folks here are suffering great adversity Still surrounded by floodwaters way out west. And the power boffins, who think they run this state Eating in restaurants and displaying a lack of compassion Have the hide to tally, banter and debate While flooded communities are forced to ration. Emergency services minister says he didn’t know About the state of our flooded land He mustn’t read or watch the T.V. news show I think he’ll have to remove his head from the sand. We have been asked to dig deep again For Saturdays Cowboys v Parramatta match Then at the end of the game we could all say amen Think of those who have lost their small patch. What the hell’s happening in this wonderful city? When visiting tourists are raped, robbed or bashed Our well meaning judges should stop taking pity As the low life’s walk around unabashed. The police do their best when apprehending But, then the law is an ass to me With pin stripe suited lawyer’s defending These animals seem to get off scot free. I can’t believe the warnings go unheeded With Dengy the worst some have ever known Our help, scientists have continually pleaded Cause they can’t rid this outbreak alone. It is a sad state of affairs when those in power who can make positive changes to the plight of so many continue to pass the buck. One day they too may be affected by disaster (too late) and run out of luck! Excellent, thought provoking piece Dave -- all the best for tomorrow. Stuart
