Bad decisions, Critical consequences

My topical poem for Wednesday 11th March.

3rd stanza, our Mangoes are to fetch $120 each in Japan, while the poor farmer is flat out receiving $10 per tray.

5th stanza, troubles again with young football players.

6th stanza, owners of a nursing home want to sell it to developers.

7th stanza, our prime minister Kevin Rudd accidently swore on T.V. so the toffee nosed brigade are complaining.

Bad decisions, Critical consequences

How about this bio security mob
Allowing imported bananas into our county
Public concerns they seem to snob
Makes you wonder if they collect a bounty.

Why aren’t our leaders voicing concern?
As our growers struggle to make a quid
This foreign fruit could carry any germ
The risk’s too great, they should be prohibited.

Mangoes sell for a king’s ransom it seems
The middleman has dollars in his eyes
While, of such riches our farmer dreams
Labouring hard, wondering how he survives.

Our third cyclone and still there’s panic buying
Hello! This is the cyclone season
Last minute stocking to me is mystifying
Prepare before, then for panic you’ll have no reason.

Footy has started and already a major scandal
In any code they all suffer the same
Seems to me instant fame some can’t handle
Surely respect can be brought back into the game.

Decisions have been made on the fate of some pensioners
They’ll try to fight the uncaring white collar
Who’ll level their home for the sake of developers?
People’s lives are traded for the dollar.

Their up in arms, the toffee nosed posse
Cause Kevin let slip and swore
Just shows he’s really an Aussie
Some toffee’s I find a total bore.
