(Joyce Devenish passed away 6/11/15)

Joyce  Devenish 1929-2015

My darling mother( who was a poet here)

she's been dead now well over a year

she and I were very... VERY ...close

so I've been grieving more than most.

It's taken me this long to write, or share,

but some may remember mum

and some of you may care

and I feel a comfort that her poems are still here

she loved this place and its poets so dear.

She was herself until those weeks that were her last

until Alzhiemer's stole her  memories of her family and her past

and at 86 years of age

her pen ran empty on life's page

and I wanted to tell you

but I could not write

my heart has been  broken

but the time is now right

to tell you 'a lady passed away'

an Authorsden poet...

and  YOU all  brightened her days.

Sorry for your loss, Kay.
My mom also has dementia, and so your poem rings very clear in my heart. Your mom would be so moved, I'm sure, to know you wrote this special poem about her.
I love reading your poems because they come from such a beautiful heart.
Blessings friend

My dear friend, I am so, so very sorry for your loss,
your Mother was a lovely lady, and commented on some of my own work,
always with kind and constructive comments.
as well as being an excellent poet herself, she will be missed.
please accept my deepest sympathies.

Your friend.
Steve.

I decided to take a look at AD during this Mothers Day. I remember your mother. How wonderful she was. My illnesses has kept me away for a while. This is a perfect season to be encouraged by news from above about our dear Kay P M-Devenish. God bless your family in this season and may your family be blessed by her spirit, as she was a beautiful sister and friend.

Heartbreak. It is a rough thing to live with. This poem is beautiful, and the outstanding line 'Her pen ran empty on life's page' will stick with me forever.

I don't remember your mother for some reason. But I do remember you and often wondered why you were absent. Now I know why. Alzheimer's takes someone strong to intervene as each day becomes more difficult.

My mother has had ministrokes that have robbed her of her speech and writing ability. Fortunately, her mind is sharp at 92 even though she can no longer hear and arthritis and diabetes are taking their toll. I am too far away from her to even visit… The last time was 2011. But she calls me every Monday at 4 PM (her choice) and we talk while she reads my voice in captions.

Of course I remember your dear mother.

"Alzhiemer's stole her memories"

I, too have a fairly advanced case of that memory thing. Scary, to say the least.

Above All a Tradewoman by Chris Belec-Joanet-Joannette

The experience of a young adult trying to figure out what they want to do for employment or education can be overwhelming. My book will give them insight to what it means to be a carpenter. And the progress unions have made in discrimination. Ge
