I Need a Bottle

A friend asked me to write him an original country song. I really don't do country, but I decided to try. So I wrote a song about drinking.

1. Some folks say I’ve got no friends at all—
But I don’t let it keep me awake—
I’ve got my empties all around the house,
Shirley Temple gives my liver a break—

2.  Captain Morgan fills my sails with rum—
Bloody Mary gives my vodka a twist—

I like Jack Daniels and Jim Beam—
And I take my coffee with Irish Mist—

Chorus: I need a bottle with my name as a brand—
So I can be in demand
I might be a wee bit unstable—
But I want to piss away my own label—

3. My heart belongs to a lass named Brandy—

Tom Collins with 7-Up is great—

A shot of schnapps fits me just dandy—

But sweet Ouzo never makes me wait—

Chorus: I need a bottle with my name as a brand—

So I can be in demand—

I might be a wee bit unstable—

But I want to piss away my own label—

Cres: Heaven has holy wine— To imbibe at quitting time—
Spy guys have it shaken, not stirred—
Jägermeister is the bomb— I’ll be laid out ‘for long—
with tears for what they did to light beer
—

Chorus: I need a bottle with my name as a brand—
So I can be in demand—

I might be a wee bit unstable—

But I want to piss away my own label—

Reminds me of my youthful days (so they tell me).

It sure is a drinking song. Probably appreciated by those who drink. I saw a familiarity with some of the mixes that I have imbibed over the years.
