Poem Artwork

Don't let the darkness
Connect with the light
It will undermine
Your happier times
With constant negativity
Surrounding you
With bleakness
Pushing you into
A coldness
You never knew existed
Grabbing your hand
Wanting to plunge
Your soul into the abyss
Beware...
Of the blackness
Creeping by your door... .. .

Such wise words, Deborah. Keep alert and recognise the black dog skulking with bad intent; too often we are complacent. xx

a positive attitude repels the negativity surrounding us ... it is a psychic umbrella ...
a vibrant expression to "Beware" ...

Having been there, I've found that focusing on future goals and getting out to nature (you don't have to be with people) can help one remove the gloom that hangs above.

I can feel the depression creeping into your poem's phrases.

This poem uses few words but manages to give a glimpse of what the depths of depression can be like. Keep yourself safe, Deborah, and thank you for sharing this...

Depression comes on like a thief in the night. I love the way you worded this. Thank you.

Love ya!

Absolutely keep it from your door. The thing is, Deborah, depression is a sneak thief. It assaults you gradually. Or so I've been told, I don't think I have ever had what is clinically called depression. I've been down, but always I have managed to beat it back. I feel very sorry for those who cannot.
