The Pen
.
I dip the pen into the well of ink
And watch as words begin to glide
Over white parchment
.
Joy enters my heart as the words
Tell of my adventures and feelings
That I long to share.
.
There is a feeling of timelessness
As I put myself into the task
With all my heart and soul.
.
Freedom to write I do not take
For granted as so many others
Are not given this pleasure
.
To express joy and sorrow
Disappointments and sadness
For how we feel about life
.
To take a stand against injustice
Without fear of being chastised
For our beliefs and jailed.
.
The pen is mightier than the sword
For it scratches out truth for all
To read and ponder upon
.
To reach a multitude of people
So they will open their minds
And see what is the truth.
.
Whoa to those that would take
This freedom away from us
So that they may have their evil ways
.
The pen brings openness that
Some of us cannot convey with
Mere words spoken hurriedly
.
So dip your pens into the well of life
And take what you feel in your heart
And share it with us that long
To hear your voice.
