Dreams from years ago enter minds at this chance meeting.

Poem Artwork

Chance Meeting
.
Memories of years long past
Come vividly to mind
When two old people
Come wandering by
.
They smile and stop
As they recognize
A familiar face
And knowing eyes
.
When they were young
And danced on stage
Their audiences aware
Of their strength and grace
,
Years of practicing
Happiness and pain
Traveling here and there
By airplane and train
.
Tender thoughts enter their minds
As memories slide like pictures
Before their eyes
.
Two young dancers fell in love
But it was not meant to be
Because their love of dancing
Each wanted to remain free
.
Free to travel where ever they could
Furthering their career was all they understood
Dancing was their life
And life was good
.
But something’s do not last
For growing older
Has taken them to task
Alone they only can share memories
Of days of glory and happiness
Smiling eyes and happy waves
As each other they passby
.

Beautifully penned of time's when they were young and in love.
A smile to mark the days of glory passed.

Nostalgic, bittersweet, and oh so true.
This is simply beautiful, Kathleen.

I don't know if you were inspired by the image or you found an image to meet your inspiration. The two don't have to be "dancers" to have lived this semi-tragic scenario.

Many years ago I met a dancer and we danced as though we were meant to be. We eventually parted and she is still dancing, but, whenever we meet, we remember when she requested "Lady in Red," just for us.

A bittersweet reminder of life's brevity. When we are young, life seems as though it will never end. The more time goes by, the more it seems to fly more quickly. Thank you, Kathi. Love and best wishes,

Missed opportunities abound and come back to stare into our soul with accusing eyes.

Death does this to all young folks. Never take anything for granted as it can be gone like a whiff of smoke.
