More Than Just My Friend?
I feel cast adrift,
I am so very confused.
I cannot find my direction,
My emotions I’ve abused.
It’s not your fault.
The blame is wholly mine.
I’m aware of my weaknesses –
But that does not negate my pine.
I yearn,
For that which you only consider.
You embrace your moral distance,
While I strive not to be bitter.
You are a true friend,
That has never been in doubt.
You maintain our friendship,
I maintain a pout.
In my mind,
There has never been a question,
Of who has been nobler -
I appreciate your discretion.
To attain,
That which holds such allure,
I shoulder all blame,
But expect you are my cure.
As our promised moment,
Quickly descends,
I hold my breath and hope
You’ll be more than just my friend.
