You Asked

You Asked...
As my tears fell upon the earth,
Why I felt the need to cry,
When I saw the quick fading beauty of the rose...

Within that rose, I saw life,
Mine, Yours, Theirs and ours-
It's prophecy of renowned royalty-
destroyed by nature,
an entire span of life, in a few short hours

You asked...
As my tears fell upon the earth,
Why I felt the need to cry,
when I saw the storm clouds cover the sun

Within those moments, I knew fear,
I was without promise, dream or hope-
Left blinded by sudden darkness-
Tomorrow stripped from my palm,
immediately, I couldn't cope

You asked...
As my tears fell upon the earth,
Why I felt the need to cry,
when I saw the face of a lonely child

On his face I saw pain,
Not from injury or wound,
I saw a hurt festering deep inside,
Then I experienced helplessness,
for I knew anger would overcome him soon

As my tears fell upon the earth,
There was no question why-
For I turned to find you gone-
without even a whisper of, goodbye

This poem squeezed my heart and left it aching, Lisa. Such intense images and so much emotion, color your smooth and flowing verses. You have done such a beautiful job on this that I felt like I was the person in your poem left in the end with only tears and an empty place in my heart.
Take care,
Sherry

Lisa,

Haunting words that will linger like shadows over that most beautiful picture--powerful! You make the reader care.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :( *tears* dammit, you've made me cry

With a display as beautiful as the colorful picture, you describe the "why" for so many tears that women (but not limited to them) the world over shed freely. Emotional statements...

A touching poem, without being a touchy-feeling poem. That I like and that is difficult to bring to surface. You delved into your psyche for this one and it shows. Saddness all around. Depressing, but still, darn good stuff.
