On altered states of present being...

Oh what a blow
No where to go
The things you come to know
When hobbled with a cane

Humbling is the plight
Climbing stairs evokes such fright
Fluid motion gone from sight
When hobbled with a cane

Abused joints to blame
How distances stretch for eternity
Lost world of carefree fraternity
When hobbled with a cane

Longing for mobility's allure
Freedom lost to the game
How is one to remain sane
If fleet-footed stride is sole cure
When hobbled with a cane

Time to sift through mind's rubble
Liberated from the need to feign
To pin-prick Reality's shielded bubble
When hobbled with a cane

Spirit forced to give lasting pause
Altered worldview far from same
Multivariate surely the cause
When hobbled with a cane...

Checked your tire pressure lately? Wanna check mine? Cuntry roads and horny toads...one toke over the line...32 psi an ounce of freedom...

The body is just the vessel which caries our spirit, Poet. An exceptionally well-written powerful piece, Carolyn. Bravo.

Dear Carolyn,

Life is strange, we take things for granted, and then suddenly, when we loose the ability, we realise just how important everything really is. Thank you for this great reminder Carolyn. May you always soar, my best wishes to you. Wonderful write.

You may have to use a cane, but you could never be hobbled. You possess the freedom of soul and spirit, and through your talents you soar with ease much like the bird in flight.
Awesome write Carolyn..

Dear Carolyn, Tears come easily to these eyes. My son once asked me why I always cry and I said "My heart keeps leaking' My heart leaked once again reading this heartbreaking poem. Nobody can truly understand what it is like to lose something so often taken for granted. I have recently lost my sight (temporarily) and have limited vision in only one eye. My beloved children help me to read the poetry I love so much. I can type blindfolded thankfully and that is what allows me to send this message to you. Your body may be limited but your mind flies free. I soar with you fellow poet.
