I played a Yamaha electric piano once for a holiday home tour gig, and fell in abject love with the "choir" setting, which my keyboards do not have. I have updated this poem to correct the rhythm. It is basically the same poem, I had been reluctant to say only "keys," as in "two keys," but that is what is necessary unless I can think of a substitute. But anyway, I wanted to correct the rhythm, since after all, this is a poem about music. Not. I am a great fan of internal rhyme and false rhyme. I hope it works here.

              Abraham

Like hosannahs over Yahweh

I hail "used Yamaha!

Buy it for me now!”

And you say “yes yes!

Just whom do I pay?”

But I was only joking.

I have two keys already

Three would be decadence.

Perhaps it was a test

I trying to make of you

some Abraham, to see what

or whom you'd slay for me.

I know it's not these things

you want to purchase

with passion's currency,

it's me, but unfortunately I'm

not for sale, and cannot be.

So chase no gleaming keys

kill no kings or only-sons

part no seas, nor speak in tongues

Love is enough; its proof resounds

Leave that trembling boy unbound.

Stunning, multilayered write - one cannot just skim, they have to delve in and let the meanings wash over them - beautiful. The ending leaves me wondering about the boy: is he the man afraid to dream? Well done, Julianza.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

It pleases me to send greetings to Poet Julie (Julianza) K. Shavin.

I have read several of your works, but due to my limited leisure time I couldn't comment on them.

I am very impressed with your style, and the subjects that you deal wisely and artistically. Your works made me learn, and gave me reasons to admire them.

"Abraham" is by all means ~ a masterpiece of the twenty-first century's Poetry.

Thank you for posting this page to glow on the pages of The American Fine Letters.
