"home, sweet home" he exclaimed
I am three years gone
the smell of lilac bloom bleeds
through a half-open window
I remember life...

a life; sweet but stagnant.

I cannot stay glued to the same sidewalk
skipping the same stones
and; hopping the same pavement cracks
even though I said I would.
