I wrote this a decade ago now... March 1, 2002. For my nephew Daniel, he was almost 2 at the time. Just have to save it somewhere so he can see it someday.... the "Doggy" was my dog at the time named Patches.

Every time I see you
Your eyes have this glow
You're always smiling and laughing
That's the world you know

When you smile
Your eyes sparkle
And you make me smile too
To make me laugh you know
Just what to do

You love to hide behind the drapes or behind any door
How do we know? We've found your fingerprints before
And when Nonna gets mad
You hide even more

Sometimes you run around in circles
And purposely fall down
It seems you never get dizzy
And you love to hit the ground
You have enough smiles
To last you forever
That's why I love you
You're so very clever

I hear a new word from you almost everyday
"Ia, Doggy in" is your favorite thing to say
But when the doggy's in you want her out
So you feed her a cookie and when she doesn't want it
"Eat doggy!" you shout

When it's time to watch Teletubbies
You sit in your chair
Your eyes glued to the T.V.
In a glazed over stare

Tinky Winky, Lala, Dipsy and Po
Little creatures from a strange land
With their own television show

"Lala" is your favorite
Though I don't know why
And if you don't see her
Her name you'll cry

"Lala, Lala" you know what?
At first I thought it was my name
You were trying to figure out
But "Ia" is good enough for now
Yes, "Ia" is good enough

You know all your colours
Which is awesome for your age
Purple, blue, green, red, orange
But pink's all the rage

Yellow is another colour
You love very much
"Lala Lellow Ia"
It's funny that you should know such

Who's Zia's monkey?
I ask you all the time
You've earned that little title
You're ALL mine!!

Can't wait till you answer
With "Daniel" one day
So far I've heard every answer
Except the one I want you to say!

I could say so much more about you
My pen will allow...
But since you can't read it yet
I will stop this rhyme now
