a 'ruse' by any other name . . .

Poem Artwork

Just sit right back and you'll

hear a tale, a tale of a fateful

trip that started from an English

port (not wine - but would stain

a certain shipping line's sacred

reputation) aboard a 269 m long

ship . . .

The crew of 943 were a bunch of

mighty sailin' men and women, the

Captain (not Bligh) was brave, but

unsure; 2,603 passengers set sail

that day; 1.517 would meet their

fate . . .

The weather wasn't rough - the

sister ship of the Olympic wasn't

tossed; if not for the stupidity of

the cost cutting owners, the Titanic

would never have sunk - the ship

struck an iceberg - lookouts were

blind; Captain was catching a few

zzz's . . .

The Titanic was really screwed - it's

propellers were too small for the ship;

the rivets were inferior - the water

rushed in like a fool; lifeboats could

only accommadate 52% - you do the

math; the rest jumped or stayed on

board while the band played, "I Only

Have Ice for You"; either way it would

have been an uphill climb from a watery

grave . . .

A wireless message was sent out -

CQD; the nearest ship was the RMS

Carpathia (not 'Carpediem') - some

58 miles away; arrived four hours

late; by then the Titanic was in its

final resting place; claims were made

later that a curse had existed on the

ship - placed there by a 'crews of

fiction' . . . ?

Excellent, Robert, it was said that even God couldn't sink the mighty Titanic: how wrong they were. Powerfully penned sadness, well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

This ship has the imagination of so many. To see that ship under the ocean make every writer want to let it go and write about the mysteries. I love reading them, seeing them hearing about them. I'm one who is obsessed with the tale of the Titanic. Great write. Love, Bonnie
