different . . . '

Poem Artwork

Even as a youth he would

chose to do things quite

not right, matter of

factly, one could say

they were well, different.

So, sit back, kick your

feet up while I reminisce

for a bit - He played spin

the bottle with his father's

gin - hoped to get her dizzy

(bet you thought I was going

to say drunk); opened up an

umbrella when he plummeted

off the garage roof; cursed up

a storm when taking the

garbage out - got a month's

worth of Dial soap in his

mouth; jumped off the back

of a go-cart and watched his

friend crash into a tree; did a

head over heels on his bike

while showing off; even did a

head over heels in love with a

teacher or two; used flippers

on his swimming test - got

caught, had to leave the water

then mumbled, "Son-of-a-beach!"

"What was that?"; put rocks

in snowballs that knocked out

two of his friend's (same one)

front teeth; but the best one was

when he went sailing - got hit by

the sail, did a back flip into the

water, started screaming for

help, looked up at his friend

(same one) who looked down

and said, "Lance, stand up!" You

see, I fell into waist deep water!

Different is Good - and it sounds like you had quite a childhood!

Sounds like you had the stuff/stamina that makes doctors, scientists and astronauts. Well, great writer, poet and humorist, not bad at all. Leo Buscaglia would ask, "Was it fun?" If you answered, "Yes". He's say, "Well, get up and do it again!"

Now days, the label is hyper-active. They may be future explorers, inventors, etc. Thanks for sharing your memories with us. Interesting.

LOL, you have so many stories in here to expand on. What a laugh you gave me you naughty little boy. Still laughing when I say, a paddle probably had your name on it, but for me, I love that type of boy. Witty, funny, loving life and a joy. Love and hugs, Bonnie
