'Their presence is felt . . . '

Poem Artwork

They arrive every December twenty-fifth

Representing all who we are; spending

that special day with its' hard earned

memories of what Christmas is really

about - not the gifts, but the giving.

Their presence is felt like the lights on

the tree, and here they patiently wait

somewhere between reality and dreams

Hoping all they did for us won't be

forgotten - all that's good will be redeemed.

They believe in the things reflecting their

worth, no present day commercialism

just to make a buck; the ghosts from our

Christmases past bring us things to hold

near and never take for granted.

For today, we all seem to give our lives

away in an effort to satisfy someone else

Until this Christmas morn, when the year

will soon be leaving - they're trying to help

us find our way back home.

And if we truly believe we will, all we have

to do is reach deep down in our souls

which will cause us to want to change

Form a new plan; Be the best 'you'

in existence - now a new life has begun!

A new year is just around the bend with new opportunities and challenges, and yet "the ghost of Christmas past" will always be with us. Thanks for the reminder, Robert, that we do not face the New Year alone.

As always,
Linda

Interesting write my friend. I have three Christmas Trees, six foot one in the living room, four foot one in the den and a two foot one I keep on my kitchen counter. All decorations according to size. Each of the trees are filled with history, from hand made items, to first Christmas, to First birthdays, to those long gone and other momentous moments. This piece so well fits in and how true it is. God bless and wishing you and yours a splendid and fulfilling Christmas...

Be always safe,
Karen
