As an Assistant Coach with the Quincy High School Baseball Team in 2002, I was approached by Head Coach Evon prior to our Orioles entering the State Playoffs.

I was an award-winning poet, so Coach Evon asked me if I could write something poetic to recite before each game to help motivate our Orioles. 

I wrote "Orioles All The Way" and prior to each game in the playoffs the team would huddle where the opposing team could hear and I would recite the first three lines and the team in unison would yell "ORIOLES ALL THE WAY!"

 I really thought we would win the State Championship, not because of the poem, but because we were coaching some authentic Oriole Champions.

We did win the District and Regional Championships, but fell short in the quarterfinals, but as I look back we probably should have huddled the team when we fell behind, anyway 20 years later in 2022 these Orioles are real CHAMPIONS to their families and communities.  

So if you ever get to Quincy Michigan remember;

Victory starts with "O"

"ORIOLES ALL THE WAY!"
