The Color of Her Eyes

Her eyes were the color of insanity,
Bright blue-green waves crashing against,
The shore of reality…
The tides pulled her into dark waters,
She followed the moon into its watery depths…

The world outside her door meant nothing-
Meaningless babble that echoed in her shattered mind,
The world wavered and shimmered in softly muted colors,
She could not hear reality beating on her doorstep…

Her eyes saw dragons and fairies,
Flying in the moonlit sky,
Gentle beauty bloomed around her,
They played games in the wide green meadows…

When her White Knight came to wake her,
She waved him away-
Preferring to stay in a world of her own,
She whispered softly to him;
I don’t need to be saved…

She was loved and cherished here,
Beauty betrothed to no one-
Truth held in a shatter proof glass jar-
Love that could not die…

They came to me then,
These hapless fools-
Thinking I could persuade her;
I would not dare.
Her eyes were the color of insanity.
Dwelling in world without pain,
Without lies,
Without you-

She was better off there.

Love, love loved this!!! This is the kind of fantasy I like. I hate the kind with a thousand words that it seems the author uses because they think them to be obscure. This is almost like loking at something pretty, yet the personality/attitude of the main character is great, I wanted to say, "You go girl!" The first verse is my fave.

Such thoughts and expressions in MY hands would be destruction personified. In your mind and pen they give a beautifully written expose of insanity - from the inside looking out. Wonderful write - a good one for each of us to ponder. - Bill

So true, how some would rather stay in the mundane of known, than take a positive risk, leading to a meaningful magical life...

To love will someday mean pain. To not love is to never feel or live..

Every positve opportunity one should jump..

Very talented poem..
