If Dreams Could Become Reality…

(for Joseph’s Challenge)



If I could change dreams into reality,
Then when I die I would return as a wolf,
Powerful and fierce,
Fearing neither man nor beast...

I would run those empty paths,
That man seek,
And find at the end of those long roads,
The end of my dreams...

And he whispered in my ear...
Then I too would be reborn as your life-long mate,
And when you howled at the Hunter's Moon,
I would race to your side,
So you would not be alone...

So I said,
If I could choose how to be reborn,
Then I would be the Eagle,
So aloof and disdainful,
Of those who tread on land,

I would fly into the clouds,
And glide on the warm thermals,
So high that none could see me,
As I passed by...

And he said;

Then I too would change,
Knowing that Eagles mate for life,
And when you grew weary,
I would guide you back to earth,
And cover you with my wings,
So you would not have to hide...

And I whispered,
No...My heart's desire,
Has always been to become the moon,
And I would harbor lovers,
And ease their hearts when they are hard,

I would stare into the eyes of lovers,
And teach their souls to burn,
I would let their song echo in eternity,
And play it back on those warm summer nights,
That lovers desire...

And he held me close,
And said,
My love, then I would be reborn as the sun,
So that we always shared the sky,
And in the end when all becomes one,
You and I would be melded into one being,
And we would share eternity,
Living off the energy of our love...

I could not help but sigh,
And pray for the Gods to hear,
And answer my dream with reality,
For he is my Sun,
And I his moon,
What better wish could there be,
Then to share the sky,
With the one you love?
