* Yes, this really happened, it is a very special memory...

My Rainbow…

Long ago,
On a gray and misty day,
The clouds split open,
And rained on the earth,
It was but an echo,
To the rain I felt in my soul,
On that black and foul day…

My sister had died,
My heart so aggrieved,
And they didn’t understand,
I had died too…

He was with me then,
This harsh and cruel man,
Lover of destruction,
And he was destroying me,
And the child I carried
Within,
Struggled to flee,
And I was using all my strength,
To hold her still…

I resided in the pit of hell
That cold and ugly day,
How much I contemplated,
Opening the door.
Leaping out,
And trying to get away…

My hand was on the handle,
And I was lifting it up slowly,
Thinking in my head,
I was better off dead…

Then the sky opened up,
And there in the heavens,
A ray of light such as one rarely sees,
And a rainbow appeared,
Touching down in the field…

I made him stop,
And jumped from the car,
Though heavy with child,
I ran into a dream,
And there all around me,
Were the colors of God,
And his beauty filled my heart,
And my baby leaped in silent joy,
I raised my arms,
And spun in such happiness,
My heart renewed!
My life reborn,
A gift sent from another realm…

I have seen rainbows in the sky,
But never stepped inside,
Never felt the rays of hope,
Pierce my soul,
As they did that day!

I tried to make him come,
But he was afraid,
And angered that I stayed,
As long as I could,
Enjoying those special rays
That flowed into my soul,
Feeling me with such hope…

The rainbow moved on,
As they do,
Searching for someone new...
But what it left me,
Stayed in my heart,
And gave me such truth!

This was my special thing,
My gift from someone who could see,
Past all the darkness and misery,
And still loved me!

I carried it forever,
Used it as my light,
Whenever my dark world dimmed,
And I used it to fight him!
For nothing he could say,
Could take it away,
It was my rainbow,
My secret I never shared,
Until now…

You survived much in this life..Your soul is so transformed by the messages in your writing...I can tell you are the butterfly now too, with colorful wings..!!!That "rainbbow" was your sign of saving grace of something higher from the heavens shinned on your tender soul with mercy and compassion.. I love you sweet goddess..You inspire me!!!

What a thrill that must have been. I've seen rainbows close, but never that close. I've also seen double and triple rainbows. Now that is something too. Wonderful the way you've written this.
