Harboring Love...

Harboring Love
Such pain every where I look,
Does love only exist in the poetic world?
Where men make promises
They have no intention of keeping,
Why do I find love,
Only when I am sleeping?
Does love not harbor desire
In this broken heart of mine,
Shall I never find one of my own kind?
A simple friend will do,
But by the gods,
He must be true ,
Not speak to me with broken lips,
Not promise me long voyages
Or trips to a paradise
That doesn’t exist,
I want merely to sit awhile,
And contemplate our life together,
Having children that will grow
To be loved and well nourished
With hopes and dreams of their own
That one day will come true -
And l shall watch over grandchildren
In skies that are always blue…
Bounce them on my knee,
Tell them stories of how we met,
Under the shading trees of the mountainside,
Sing them such songs of love,
That they will learn the words
That speak of the binding of hearts
That will never come apart…
Is love going to always be so blind?
Will it never see me here?
I’ve been waiting for a while,
And timidly hold out my hand,
But not to just any man,
To one who is noble and true ,
Why doesn’t it hear me calling?
Where the hell are you?

Romance abounds here in the den.. you have written something very human, identifiable and so honest. Who could not relate to this? I loved the line with "broken lips".. really great line! Wonderfully expressive work. katy.
